Introduction

Hi, everyone! My name is Tania and I am 35 years old, married with two kids. I am currently living in El Paso, Tx while my husband finishes out his military career and then back to Alaska we go. I have had to take online classes so I could remain a UAF student and not worry about transferring my credits, which I didn’t want to do as I am fond of being a Nanook. Though one of the reasons why I am taking this class is because it is offered online, I also love art. I have always loved to sketch and draw and would like to know more about how to use the different colors and hues to bring what I create to life. However, its been a long time since I even sat down to draw. I don’t have any artwork to showcase so the image I picked is one that always inspires me when I see it. It’s an iconic piece of art  by Norman Rockwell.  Rosie the Riveter has bold colors and the message of “We Can Do It!’ always resonates in my head, especially when I take on too much, or have multiple tasks to complete at the same time. My favorite part is how strong she looks, even in both depictions. The contrast of the yellow background with the blue uniform in one image, and the strong and bold stance in the other, as she balances a jackhammer on her leg.  rosie

I really miss being able to sit down and create something, and I am excited that I will be able to do that with this class. Have a great semester everyone!
